RCA Surveyor (Trainee & Experienced Opportunities)

Due to continued growth, we're looking for both trainee and experienced Reinstatement Cost Assessment (RCA) Assessors to join our expert team at Barrett Corp & Harrington Ltd (BCH) -- the leading provider of Reinstatement Cost Assessments in the UK.

Founded in 2006, BCH are a professional services company providing services to the insurance industry and in Property and Construction. With expertise in Loss Adjusting, Quantity Surveying, Construction and insurance, BCH remains focused on bringing expertise to the business to provide quality and reliable services.

Since its formation, BCH focused on providing Reinstatement Cost Assessments, diversifying into Benchmark Digital Valuations and Residential Risk surveys to service the insurance and risk management space.

- What is an RCA Assessor



BCH Assessors are responsible for visiting the building, taking measurements and record photographs before returning to their desks to calculate the value of the building and present their findings in a report. Our Assessors manage their own diaries and predominantly work from home. Cases are allocated to the Assessor who then arrange an appointment to visit the building. A normal day in the field might include a single large building or a group of smaller ones. A typical week may include two days on site and three days of calculating and report writing. Undertaking the assessment includes creating a simple electronic drawing. Once the assessment is complete it is sent to a senior member of the team for a peer review.

Expectations of the role



The key to success lies in the accuracy of the information gathered on the site visit, careful diary planning and the efficient management of time. Candidates should be self-motivated and able to work remotely. Attention to detail is important coupled with organised and clear record keeping.

Good communications and interpersonal skills, being able to confidently meet with and converse with clients Self-manage diary for appointments and the writing up of reports and valuations, with the assistance of the database. Be able to take accurate measurements of buildings on site, including floor areas, perimeters, and heights, using measurement equipment supplied Record details of the construction of a building using photographs and notes, including external works, and relevant local environmental factors Be able to deliver your own target Undertake and be motivated to complete CPD hours that are either organised by the Company or yourself

Education Profile



A suitable candidate should have:

Education to GCSE/A'Level or equivalent. You must have a minimum level of grades A-C or 4-9 for Maths and English. Strong IT skills and a good working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint Ability to work using own initiative as well as part of a team. Strong organisation and planning skills with the ability to effectively prioritise workload. Excellent customer service and communication skills both written and verbal as well as being comfortable communicating at all levels. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Cert CII qualifications - not required to apply but expected during employment. Full Drivers Licence
Additional desirable attributes for experienced applicants

MRICS A background in quantity surveying, insurance or construction A good understanding of the RCA process Solid technical building surveying experience
This Role is to cover the South East and London region so access to these areas is crucial.

Own car essential however business mileage will be paid at 0.45 per mile.

All travel expenses such as hotels, trains, subsistence are reimbursable.

Salary :- 27k - 35k depending on experience - entry level Tier 1, there are higher tiers depending on experience/ qualifications, pension scheme, 25 days holiday + bank holidays. After probation period - Production bonus for exceeding target, Annual company bonus, private health care scheme, sick pay.
