Porpoise Power is developing tidal stream energy generators using fins. Think of a whale's tail attached to a generator - then picture a marina of them, producing as much power as a windfarm. We're a year old, it's a small, active team who is getting wet designing and testing our device. We're an Oxford university spin out, backed by great investors.
We strongly encourage applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds to apply. We're walking distance from Oxford station, and have great coffee and a cafe on hand!
To develop the generators, we are designing, building and testing scale versions. Our latest is a 3m fin, which we're deploying under a boat that we can test in a local lake. You will work alongside our engineers to support the development, deployment and debugging of research test rigs and product test rigs. You'll be responsible for actioning any incoming technical support tickets and resolving these in a timely manner. You'll own the workshop, ensuring it is an organised, productive place for all to do hands on work. You will report to the Head of Electrical Engineering and be part of a fast growing team.
