Job Overview


We are seeking an experienced and dynamic R&D Manager to lead our research and development team. As the R&D Manager you will lead and support the R&D team by progressing/scaling new products and concepts through to product launch. You will also review, maintain and extend the current product portfolio/catalogue to meet the companies commercial requirements.

Main Responsibilities:



Leadership



Support, develop, mentor and manage the team to ensure they have the capability to deliver R&D team objectives. Identify and manage training for team/individuals in new processes and methods as appropriate

Operational



Identify proposals for both BAU & 'blue sky' R&D that will define and develop new commercial applications for the companies formulations, products, and delivery systems to meet customer/market needs Ensure accurate, comprehensive and up to date records for traceability of all development products from raw material sources through to customer samples Plan, coordinate, document and report on re-formulations and product development trials Manage the maintenance of R&D areas and equipment in a safe, clean, and fully operational condition. Ensure ISO and compliance requirements are met Maintain food safety standards and good manufacturing practice (GMP) whilst conducting all duties Work with the Head of Technical & Technical Manager to ensure accurate bills of operation and safety procedures are always applied Provide product development guidance to customers on how to optimise/extend products, build insights based on outcomes and learning for further applications

Projects



Lead and support projects from proof of concept through to successful scalable commercial products ensuring all projects are completed on time and within budget Work with the Commercial and NPD Manager to create an R&D project programme/plan Maintain accurate and comprehensive project records in line with company project processes Transfer technologies from project pilots to production scalable processes Prepare and present of detailed reports for senior management team Actively search for best-in-class technologies and help develop an innovation culture/environment Implement structures to protect the company IP, whilst respecting existing patents Any other activities engaged in by the company in the pursuit of its corporate aims and objectives

Experience



10+ years experience in R&D/Flavour/Chemicals within the Food Industry Degree educated with 3+ years managerial experience Highly confident with strong decision-making capabilities Independent thinker Sound IT knowledge and skills Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills South West based or prepared to relocate

Schedule:

8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday. No weekend work. On-site
Licence/Certification:

Salary is depending on experience

Pay: 50,000.00-55,000.00 per year
