Job Summary:
The role involves undertaking several research projects aimed at developing new analytical methodologies, while providing documentation accordingly to ISO standards. The position also involves dealing with customers' technical enquiries
Key Duties:
Assist Sr Manager on a variety of scientific projects.
Research, develop, and verify analytical procedures for a wide range of molecular biology reagents from PCR mastermixes to next generation sequencing kits.
Establishes and disseminate technical knowledge and good laboratory practices in the group.
Follows independently SOP (protocols, MSOP and ASOP)
Independent troubleshooting of experiment
Write literature to support products.
Keep accurate laboratory records.
Work to ISO13485 standards and understand their requirements.
Participation in general laboratory meetings
Assist with the technical support activities in the R&D group
Qualifications:
A PhD or equivalent in life science
5+ years of experience in an active research laboratory or equivalent industrial experience
Demonstrate ownership of activities and responsibilities
Project management
Leadership ability
Ability to work independently and in a team
Ability to report and communicate concisely ideas and concepts
Ability to apply relevant statistical models to large data sets
Interact with customers in a professional manner
Knowledge of DNA and RNA polymerases
Experience in real-time PCR (qPCR) and endpoint PCR assay design and interpretation of data
Experience of the construction of libraries for next generation sequencing
Experience of isolation and handling of nucleic acids (preferably from plant material, though experience of mammalian virology will also be considered)
Familiarity with general bioinformatics website and software packages
Expertise in a broad range of molecular biology techniques
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with an interdisciplinary group
* Good understanding of chemical principles involved in buffers, stabilizers, enhancers, fluorescent chemistry etc. used with commercial polymerases and polymerase mixes
