We are currently recruiting for an R&D Senior Scientist with extensive experience in cell biology based tests and to act as an SME for biocompatibility. The role will support the design and development of medical devices by working directly with stakeholders to coordinate and provide compliant technical support to R&D. The role will require management responsibilities to direct reports within the R&D team. The role will report to the R&D Manager and is based in Winsford.
Key responsibilities
What will this role involve?
To perform testing and investigations using a wide range of cell biology assays , including but not limited to; cell viability, scratch assays, the set-up of cell models, cell imaging / fluorescence, ELISA, Anti-inflammatory screening, cytotoxicity, MMP sequestration.
To assist in the development, optimisation and validation of new and novel test methods for the evaluation and verification of R&D projects.
To act as an SME in biocompatibility by generating , reviewing and approving documentation to support new product design and changes to existing products according to relevant standards.
To take on management responsibilities, in order to motivate and develop the direct reports they manage within the R&D team.
To accurately record data and file information e.g. raw data in accordance with AMS Good Laboratory Practices and R&D procedures.
Correlate your findings with data from literature and actively perform literature research.
Ensure the R&D Tissue Culture Laboratory is maintained in a compliant state by ensuring that materials, reagents, cell lines and equipment required for R&D testing are always in stock and calibrated/validated, media is prepared to meet laboratory demands and all procedures, COSHH, risk assessments are current.
Ensure compliance with all current cell biology practices and maintain all test methods to relevant standards.
Authorship/approval of scientific and technical protocols / reports, publications, posters, making appropriate conclusions, recommendations and presentations as required.
Support regulatory submissions (documentation, testing, etc).
Support Sales & Marketing department in the production of Marketing collateral.
Actively contribute to departmental meetings and forums and contribute to the systematic improvement of the department in a positive, pragmatic, and enthusiastic manner.
Adopt high standards of GLP and H&S in laboratories.
What we're looking for?
Minimum degree level qualification in a Biological Sciences discipline or related field.
Experience of a wide range of in-vitro cellular assays.
Previous relevant experience in biocompatibility desirable.
Management experience.
Demonstrates ability to apply regulations without excessive guidance.
Able to work collaboratively and effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Good attention to detail and high scientific standards.
Driven to achieve results.
Good time management and organisational skills.
Strong communication skills.
