What is the role?



Our Real Estate team has a national reputation for commercial real estate investment and development work. You'll experience a wide range of property matters from acquisitions and disposals, development work, asset management work for investors, corporate support, real estate finance and renewable transactions in the wind and solar sectors. We have a diverse mix of clients that span the public and private sector and include commercial developers, regeneration companies, household names in house building and retail, as well as offices, shopping centres and industrial/warehouse schemes. Transactions are often high value and offer an excellent opportunity to be involved in high profile quality work.



Working with the wider Real Estate team across the country there will be plenty of opportunity for client contact and you'll be expected to build and maintain strong relationships with these contacts. Business development is an important aspect for all of our lawyers, and you will be able to contribute to the growth of the team by assisting with the organisation of client events, writing articles for our website and other marketing activities.


What does the ideal candidate look like?



We're looking for someone who is looking to build on their real estate experience. Ideally you will already have had exposure to quality real estate work from a large firm. What's most important is that you have a genuine enthusiasm to build a career in this specialism. Knowledge of Scottish Law is also essential.



You'll be a bright and resilient lawyer who is excited at the prospect of working in a busy yet supportive environment. Whatever your experience level, or background, you'll need excellent drafting skills, a sense of commercial pragmatism, a bright mind and a strong team ethos to help further develop the team's client base. You'll also need to be motivated to participate in business development that helps to raise the team's profile and network.



To be successful in this role you'll need as a minimum:


A legal qualification with 2+ year's post admission experience. Experience of working on development transactions, landlord and tenant work, real estate finance - knowledge of the renewables sector would be useful Experience gained from working as part of a team on complex transactions. Able to demonstrate knowledge gained in this area of law.
