A vacancy has arisen across our general commercial property & independent healthcare property teams, to be based from either our Birmingham, Bristol or Leeds office (with flexible hybrid-working). This senior role will have a particular focus on residential and commercial development and real estate finance work
In terms of healthcare; we buy, build, sell, scale, develop, dispose and finance our clients' health and social care property. We have experienced significant growth in our property work in this sector over the last couple of years. This growth is set to continue, with major tender wins on high profile projects and clients across the country.
In terms of general commercial property; we act for a range of private and public sector clients and we buy, build, develop and finance our client's properties across various markets.
Not only will you develop your technical skills and knowledge, you will also have plenty of opportunity to meet clients, grow your own network and develop other business development skills.
The successful candidate will be an experienced commercial property solicitor able to take on and run a caseload and lead a team of junior lawyers on larger project work. You would collaborate with other teams within the firm (planning, construction, corporate, banking, litigation) on relevant aspects of transactions. You would be joining a busy and expanding teams and would have the chance to be part of, and help shape, our ambitious growth plans as a firm, therefore there is significant potential for fast career development.
The role
This role will involve advising clients on the full range of commercial property matters, including:

  • Acquisitions of residential and commercial development sites and overseeing any disposals from the post development phase.
  • Negotiating property aspects of development funding agreements with forward funders.
  • Advising lenders in respect of real estate finance security work, undertaking property due diligence and feeding into banking CP lists
  • Supporting our corporate team on property matters arising in corporate acquisitions and disposals and where necessary feeding into share purchase agreements and asset purchase agreements
  • Sales and disposals of investment properties subject to leases
  • Negotiation of commercial leases on behalf of institutional landlords and tenants
What we are looking for from you
The successful applicant will possess the following skills key to the role:
  • Experience working across various types of commercial property work but with a focus on development work and some finance experience
  • This is a client facing role, therefore excellent communication skills with a professional approach to work is required
  • Experience of working directly with clients and an ability to build strong interpersonal relationships
  • Experience in bespoke drafting and legal analysis
  • Enthusiastic outlook and a keenness to work collaboratively with colleagues at junior and senior levels
  • Project management skills and the ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines
  • A practical and commercial approach
  • A genuine interest and experience in business development
