Old Bridge Surgery are looking for a professional, friendly, hard-working and compassionate Receptionist to join the surgery team.
With circa 9,800 patients, Old Bridge Surgery operates across 3 sites (Looe, Polperro and Pelynt), and has 8 GPs, plus trainee GPs, Paramedic, Clinical Pharmacist, Advanced Nurse Practitioner and nursing staff, as well as a non-clinical team.
With a team ethos, we are looking for someone with a positive 'can-do' attitude, who really wants to make a difference and can work under pressure.
The position offered is for 25.5 hour per week, with the primary focus to handle calls and to assist and direct patients, as well as provide administrative assistance. Overtime is also required to help cover sickness/holidays, recognising that ensuring that the reception team is sufficiently manned is key to the running of the surgery.
Duties include:
Receive and make telephone calls, receiving or redirecting enquiries and taking messages as appropriate.
Provide first point of contact for patient, providing advice and guidance to ensure queries are dealt with appropriately and patients are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional.
Process and prioritise appointment requests from patients by telephone or in person in line with practice protocol.
Record requests for home visits and refer to duty doctor as appropriate.
Co-ordinate waiting and re-call lists, booking in patients (as necessary)
Register new patients and de-register patients, as well as record amendments to patient records as appropriate.
Enter patient information onto the computer and provide clerical assistance as required, including word/data processing, filing patient records / tasks, and other tasks in accordance with practice protocols.
Open and close the building as appropriate, including alarms, lighting and building security.
Support surgery flu and covid clinics.
Plus other ad-hoc tasks, as required by the Surgery Managers
