The following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels: a. Use the Practice Clinical System Systm1 effectively for the benefit of patients and staff. b.
Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system including booking and cancelling appointments as required c. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately in a timely manner d. Signpost patients to the correct service/clinician. e.
Provide support to patients at the front desk, dealing with all enquires efficiently and professionally, including giving and receiving samples in line with Practice policy. f. Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies g. Photocopy documentation as required h.
Open post and ensure it is passed on to the relevant department to be actioned. i. Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required j. Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary k.
Direct requests for information i.e. SAR, insurance / solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team l. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times m. Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards n.
Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested o. Attending team meetings as requested p. Completing all mandatory training and ensuring this is kept up to date. Assist with campaigns such as flu clinics as requested
