Grasmere Surgery is a friendly and busy GP practice in the heart of Leigh, serving approximately 8,000 patients. Our team includes 6 GP Partners, 3 Nurses, and 2 HCAs, all committed to providing high-quality care to our community.
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced
GP Receptionist/Administrator
to join our team. You will be the first point of contact for our patients and will play a key role in helping them access the right care, efficiently and courteously.
Requirements:
Essential:
Minimum 6 months experience working in a
GP surgery/Hospital
in both
reception and admin
roles.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
Strong IT skills with experience using clinical systems (e.g., System One).
Professional, friendly and empathetic manner.
Strict commitment to
confidentiality
and
safeguarding
.
Must be flexible -- occasional overtime may be required.
Subject to an
Enhanced DBS check
.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist patients in person and via phone in a professional manner.
Manage appointment bookings, repeat prescriptions, and clinical messages.
Maintain a tidy and welcoming reception area.
Process incoming/outgoing post, scan documents, and update patient records.
Support clinical staff with administrative tasks including chaperoning, filing, and managing referrals.
Handle patient queries efficiently and accurately while maintaining patient confidentiality.
Additional Duties:
Participate in regular training and annual appraisals.
Uphold practice policies, especially regarding confidentiality, health & safety, and equality.
Support team members and contribute to continuous service improvement.
Cover colleagues during annual leave or sickness.
