The medical receptionist role is for an enthusiastic, positive, self motivated individual who can work both independently and as part of our growing team. Our reception team are the first link for many patients who come to the surgery. The role varies on a day to day basis including greeting patients as they arrive and checking them in, collecting patient notes and ensuring that these vital records go to the right healthcare professional. The day to day also involves using the clinical system and other software programmes to make appointments, book patient transport, book interpreters and deal with test results.
in addition, responding to tasks from clinical and non clinical staff and liaising with community services and emergency services. Our reception team meet regularly to discuss best practice and ways of improving our service, we work very closely with other teams within the practice and community. Reception To act as the first point of contact for anyone visiting the surgery or calling on the telephone To receive patients on arrival and direct them as needed To provide a courteous and helpful service To ensure patient confidentiality is respected at all times and to adhere to the Data Protection Act To answer queries with regard to results or recent tests. this includes contacting the hospitals for those results if necessary. Book hospital transport as needed Open and close down the practice according to our checklist Responsible for receiving and scanning clinical and non clinical correspondence, coding letters as per protocol and distributing to the relevant people
