The Derby London City, Curio Collection by Hilton joins an existing portfolio of award-winning hotels owned by Dominus and managed by Dominus Hospitality. Opening in February 2026 the hotel will join Hilton's prestigious Curio Collection in the UK, a global set of remarkable upper upscale hotels handpicked for their unique character and personality - each one a part of the fabric of the city it calls home.
In the heart of London's historic financial district, "The Derby" resonates with charm and sophistication. The name, inspired by the iconic bowler hat - affectionately known as a "Derby" - pays homage to the City's storied banking heritage.
The Derby offers 234 contemporary bedrooms, including 13 suites with panoramic city views. Guests can enjoy modern British dining with a twist at Rycrofte's Restaurant, Coffee House and Bar, with options for private dining. The hotel also features boardroom-style meeting spaces for 10-20 delegates, fully equipped with the latest technology, all in the heart of London's Square Mile.

About The Role
As a Receptionist at The Derby London City, you will be one of the first faces our guests meet and a key part of the experience they remember. From smooth check-ins to thoughtful local recommendations, you will play an essential role in creating a welcoming, seamless stay from arrival to departure. You will support the day-to-day Front of House operation, handling guest accounts and payments accurately, assisting with administrative and handover procedures, and ensuring the safety and security of both guests and the hotel. Working closely with the wider Front of House team, you will help deliver the high standards of service expected of a Curio Collection by Hilton property. Above all, you will bring warmth, professionalism, and genuine care to every guest interaction, helping to create an atmosphere where people truly feel at home.
Key Responsibilities
Extends an efficient and welcoming experience both upon arrival and departure.
Attends to any guest comments brought to their attention and deals with these efficiently and courteously. Readily available to attend any quest questions and enquires providing adequate response to them.
Has the ability to offer insightful and bespoke recommendations based on individual guest preferences and be able to maintain a high level of product and service knowledge in order to best serve and facilitate guest requests.
To seek ways to maintain, improve and effectively work within the Front of House teams.
Ensures that data accuracy standards are followed
Adheres to the correct procedures on acceptance of payment cards and cash.
Is able to complete all tasks on his / her designated task list in a timely and efficient manner while ensuring all necessary follow-up and communication is complete prior to ending a shift.
To contribute to regular departmental communications meetings ensuring objectives are reviewed and results monitored and minutes recorded as required by the Front Office Manager.
To be aware and comply with safe working practices as laid down under the Health and Safety Act as applicable to your place of work. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards at your workplace.
To be fully conversant with the Hotel Emergency and Evacuation procedures.
Demonstrates excellent knowledge of room categories, hotel facilities, rates, packages and any ongoing promotions.
Maximises occupancy and uses up-selling techniques to promote the hotel.
About You
Previous experience ideally within an upmarket hotel environment is desirable
Strong communication skills through a variety of means
Excellent interpersonal and customer relation skills to ensure a seamless and memorable experience, proactively resolving any challenges that may arise
An empathetic and a professional approach at all times
Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to stay calm under pressure, adapting your approach to complete routine and non-routine tasks
High attention to detail and accuracy - great at managing one's own time
PEP/PMS systems (ONQ) knowledge would pose a great advantage but not a mandatory requirement.
