Abbamoor surgery is a up and coming surgery in the heart of Harold Hill in Romford. Dr Pratheep Suntharamoorthy is the GP Principle Partner looking after 4000 patients in the community who is supported by a dedicated and hard working team of Doctor, Nurse, HCA, Physician Associate, Pharmacist, and Reception/Admin Team who all take pride in the fantastic service that we provide to our patients.
We currently have a vacancy for a receptionist who has prior experience of working as a receptionist in a GP Practice. We are looking for an enthusiastic, well motivated individual to fit into our friendly, forward-thinking team. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, together with the ability to work well under pressure.
The post is for 25 hours per week over 5 days. Competitive starting salary with 4 weeks' annual leave, plus bank holidays and NHS pension scheme.
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years previous GP Reception experience which is desirable.

Answering Telephone calls from patients and booking appointments or dealing with their request.
make appointments for future surgery using computer & appointment book
each receptionist is responsible for keeping their medical records in order.
Register new patients
Attach and Scan letters onto EMIS Webs the patient electronic record and code.
To provide clerical back-up to any one of the Primary Health Care Team, e.g. HV, DN.
Registration of new patients
Follow up any queries from the HA if registration is not accepted and rectify as notified by 'Non-core' responsible person
When MRE arrives - arrange notes in chronological order for summarising.
Ensure that Doctor's rooms are clean and tidy. Sufficient supply of stationery is available.
To attend staff meetings when necessary
To provide cover for other work colleagues when necessary - sick leave or annual leave
To be willing to attend any necessary training sessions to improve the quality of work
The post holder is required to make positive efforts to promote his/her own personal safety and that of others by taking reasonable care at work by carrying out requirements of law or following recognised codes of practice and co-operating with any safety measures provided or advised by the employers to ensure safe working.
Employees must not; without prior permission, disclose any information regarding patients. In instances where it is known that members of staff have communicated information to unauthorised persons, those members of staff concerned will be liable to dismissal.
To be responsible for opening and closing surgery premises in rotation with other members of staff ensuring that the building is secure, checking heating and restoring telephone services and ensuring all rooms are locked at the end of the day.
Opening and circulating post and courier deliveries
Receiving patient's requests for repeat prescriptions and processing them.
Repeat Prescriptions
Arranging transport/ambulances for patients, when requested by doctor.
Update patient records with change of address, telephone numbers etc, on regular basis.
Follow up of QOF Recall for LTC to Asthma/Smear clinics etc i.e. contacting them to come to surgery, when requested by Doctors/nurses or colleagues
Keep a check on stationery and record when running low. Order general NHS supplies
The post holder should be prepared to be flexible in attitude to work and willing to undertake other duties, within reason, if asked by the manager/doctor.
Leaving reception area tidy and ready for next shift with all information being passed over to the next shift/calls to helpdesk for computer should be followed through and appropriately passed over to the next shift.
Use computers and other IT equipment's per practice policy. e.g. Scanners, Fax Machines, Phones, emails, internet, photocopiers and shredders.
Any other business and task as set by the GP Partner of Practice Manager.
This may be modified from time to time.
