Greet and assist patients and visitors in a polite, professional, and compassionate manner. Answer and manage incoming telephone calls, dealing with patient queries and signposting appropriately. Book, amend, and cancel patient appointments using the practice clinical system (e.g., EMIS Web). Process new patient registrations, temporary residents, and patient record updates.
Manage repeat prescription requests in line with practice protocols. Handle patient correspondence, referrals, and medical reports. Ensure the reception area is tidy, organised, and welcoming at all times. Scan, code, and file clinical documents into patient records accurately.
Assist with monitoring and inputting data for QOF (Quality and Outcomes Framework) and other performance indicators. Prepare and send patient referrals to secondary care and community services. Support the management of recalls, long-term condition reviews, and screening programmes. Carry out administrative support for clinicians, nurses, and the management team.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to GDPR and NHS information governance policies. Contribute to maintaining practice policies, procedures, and quality standards.
