Mortons is a broad-based law firm and we are proud of our heritage. Established in the late 19th Century, we have been a permanent fixture in Sunderland ever since. In 2011 we expanded our operations to Seaham, in 2020 we opened our Durham office and in 2024 we relocated our Head Office to The Yard within Sunderland City Centre.

In addition to being Lexcel, CQS,. WIQS and Cyber Essentials accredited - which ensure that we meet the highest standards of client care and expertise - we are also contracted to provide publicly funded advice through the Legal Aid Agency. We hold Children's Panel accreditation and are members of Resolution.

Our vacancy



We are seeking to recruit a receptionist/administrator to join our Belmont branch office. Working hours will be Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.

There will be occasions where cover may be required at our Seaham and Sunderland offices so applications from candidates who are able to travel to these offices when required are welcomed.

We are looking for the following:



An efficient and courteous telephone manner, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and other professionals. A sense of urgency, attention to detail and accuracy A proactive can-do approach to day-to-day tasks and a strong commitment to client care. The ability to work well with others in a team environment and on own initiative when required.

Duties include:



Receiving and directing incoming telephone calls in an efficient and friendly manner

Relaying accurate messages when necessary

Receiving clients and visitors to the practice.

Taking copies of and certifying identification documents

Opening, scanning and allocating incoming post, and franking outgoing mail

Taking payments and running end of day banking

Locating documents held in internal and external storage

Updating records accurately as to the document location

Releasing confidential documents, following strict guidelines to prove identity

Administration duties relating to opening/closing of files

Maintaining stationery supplies

Any other duties which from time to time are reasonably required by the firm

Pay: From 12.21 per hour
