Woolpit Health Centre is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and hardworking medical receptionist to join our busy evolving reception team on a part-time basis for 20 hours per week.
Working hours for this post are as follows:
Monday - 8am until 6pm with a 1 hour unpaid lunch break
Tuesday - 8am until 2pm
Wednesday- no core working hours
Thursday- no core working hours
Friday - 1pm until 6.30pm
This is a great opportunity for those already working in a healthcare setting who wish to work within primary care or for those who wish to start a career as a medical receptionist. The role is to support the clinical team by signposting patients to the appropriate healthcare professional or service, working as part of the practices multidisciplinary team such as physiotherapists and mental health nurses.
You will be dealing with patients by telephone and face to face whilst providing administrative support to assist with the day-to-day running of the Health Centre. The successful candidate will be flexible and reliable with the ability to work under pressure to compliment our experienced and dedicated reception team.
Duties will include;
Ensuring that an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice
Dealing with all general enquiries and explain surgery procedures
Answering the telephone and call navigating to appropriate clinicians
Booking, amending and cancelling patients appointments
Monitoring and processing Anima requests alongside the triage clinician
Accurately maintaining patient database and records
Opening up/locking up of practice premises and maintaining security
Processing and distributing incoming mail
Take messages accurately and pass on information
Filing and retrieving paperwork and medical records as necessary
Assisting patients with support on use of medical platforms such as NHS app and Anima
About the Candidate
General practice is a challenging environment that requires a calm and caring approach with the ability to work under pressure. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated team player who has customer service/patient experience, offers excellent communication skills, and has the following attributes: Ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients and colleagues at all times.
Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Strong IT and administration skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is desirable.
Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues. All applicants should ensure that they live within reasonable commuting distance.
