Recycling Officer

An opportunity has arisen to join the waste management team at Preston City Council. We have a vacancy for a highly motivated, team player with excellent communication skills.



Reporting to the Assistant Director (Head of Neighbourhood Services) you will work as part of a small team responsible for providing education for residents and businesses, particularly focussing on schools and community group education initiatives, as well as maintaining and improving other waste services and dealing with a range of waste related issues, queries and related issues. You should have excellent ICT skills and have experience of working in a customer focused environment. You must be confident communicating to various audiences, with a customer focused approach and ability to meet deadlines.



Working as part of a small office based team at the Councils Argyll Road depot. Being a team player, but also with the ability to work alone, you should be able to prioritise a fluctuating workload, be computer literate, and have good numeracy skills



If appointed you will be required to have a driving licence and ideally have a car available for work purposes. The hours of work will be 37 per week, Monday to Friday. A flexitime scheme is in operation and a casual user allowance is payable.



Hours of work will be flexible to suit the work requirements and may include early starts, as well as occasional evening and weekend work.
