At Curo, we believe everyone deserves a safe home. We need a team leader to help refugee families settle into their new homes in Bristol. You will help them to build new lives and become independent.
This role is about creating hope, empowering individuals and communities to thrive and flourish. You will lead a team to support families who are rebuilding their lives with hope and dignity in a new country. The team will be committed to providing wraparound support to help families thrive and settle into their new home and community, from accessing and maximising income, sustaining tenancies, and finding employment, to building positive relationships, connecting with key services, and fostering successful integration and a true sense of belonging.
Your team will connect families and young people with their new community. You will help them move from just surviving to really thriving.
What you will do
Lead a team consisting of a Supported Housing officer and Employment and Support Coach
Work directly with refugee families and agree support plans tailored to their individual needs
Work with local schools, doctors, employers and community groups
Ensure that we are meeting our contractual targets. Be the primary contact person for our commissioners
Be the primary contact responsible for raising any safeguarding concerns.
Ensure all quarterly reports are submitted within timescales.
Offer well-rounded support to your team, fostering their development and wellbeing, while actively identifying and addressing training needs to ensure continued growth and capability.
Manage accommodation and support for young people in Weston-Super-Mare
Travel required between Bristol and Weston-Super-Mare
About you
You care about helping people through big life changes. You can lead a team doing important work. You understand that families need time to trust you, especially if they have had difficult experiences.
You need:
Experience leading teams in housing, refugee support, or community work
Understanding of trauma and different cultures
Knowledge of housing law, benefits and keeping people safe
Good skills working with different organisations and cultures
Experience writing reports and tracking progress
Ability to work flexibly and travel between Bristol and Weston-Super-Mare
It would help if you had:
Personal experience of moving to a new country or working with refugees
Language skills in Dari, Pashto or other Afghan languages
Knowledge of Bristol community groups and support services
You will be based in or around Bristol. You will sometimes travel to Bath for meetings. You need to be flexible as you support families moving from temporary housing into their permanent homes.
