Pembrokeshire has been among Wales' top recycling authorities since 2019, and we are now looking for Refuse & Recycling Drivers to join our innovative recording breaking Waste and Recycling service.
Are you an experienced HGV driver looking to make a positive impact in your community? We're looking for dedicated and reliable Refuse Drivers to join our Waste and Recycling team.
As part of our frontline Environmental Services, you'll be responsible for driving and operating refuse collection vehicles across the district, ensuring household and commercial waste is collected safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
You will drive and operate refuse and recycling collection vehicles (Class 2 HGV) with support collection crews, carry out vehicle checks and report defects, ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, and provide excellent customer service while professionally representing the council in the community.
You will ensure safe lifting and working practices are used, as well as ensuring appropriate personal protective clothing is worn at all times.
You will actively be supporting PCC to achieve its core objective to be one of the top recycling Authority's in Wales and a greener and cleaner Pembrokeshire. Also supporting our ambitions surrounding continuous service improvement for an efficient and effective service whilst meeting Welsh Government's targets and legislation.

Casual/relief and seasonal posts are also available with possibility of future advancement to part time and full time positions.
Requirements of the role.
A valid driving licence is essential, including HGV Class 2 qualification and CPC card.
Must be physically fit, able to move bags, boxes and wheeled bins for the working day and walk for a number of miles a day in an outdoor environment.
Able to work effectively as part of a team/crew and to use own initiative.
High degree of awareness in respect of personal health and safety in relation to manual handling and the dangers associated with working continuously in close proximity to the highway.
Good customer service skills, working in a public facing role engaging with customers.
Requirement to be literate and numerate in order to accept work instructions and complete necessary work documentation and ability to use IT systems.
There will be a requirement to work bank holidays and weekends including Christmas/ New year period.
