Regional Accounts Manager - FMCG Wholesale (West Midlands Based)
Job Summary
We are a fast-growing wholesale company based in the West Midlands, supplying branded FMCG products to independent retailers and wholesalers across the UK. As we continue to expand, we are looking for a motivated and dynamic Regional Account Manager to join our team.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing and growing our customer base by conducting regular field visits, building strong client relationships and identifying new business opportunities. This is a customer-facing role that requires excellent communication skills, commercial awareness and a proactive approach to sales development.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain strong relationships with independent retailers, wholesalers and cash & carries to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
Conduct regular face-to-face sales visits (minimum monthly) with both existing and prospective customers.
Proactively identify and secure new business opportunities to drive sales growth.
Negotiate commercial terms with customers, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes.
Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure product availability, pricing accuracy and promotional planning.
Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, managing issues promptly and offering tailored solutions.
Monitor stock levels and make replenishment recommendations to optimise sales.
Prepare and maintain accurate account plans, forecasts and call reports.
Stay informed of market trends, competitor activity, and category performance to help shape commercial strategy.
Represent the company professionally at customer meetings, trade events and business reviews.
Experience and Skills Required
Proven experience in field sales, account management, or business development within FMCG wholesale or retail.
Existing knowledge of the independent retail and wholesale FMCG sectors in the UK is highly desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
Strong negotiation skills and a commercial mindset.
Highly organised with excellent time management and attention to detail.
Self-motivated and driven to meet and exceed sales targets.
Ability to work autonomously while being part of a wider sales team.
Proficiency with IT systems such as CRM tools, Odoo ERP, MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and reporting tools.
Full Clean UK driving licence with access to a vehicle for work-related travel.
