Are you a seasoned Planning professional ready to lead strategic planning initiatives at a regional level? SES Engineering Services are looking for an experienced Regional Head of Planning to play a pivotal role in delivering business-critical mechanical and Electrical projects, while developing a high-performing team of planning professionals.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Regional Head of Planning, youll take full ownership of planning operations across the business unit. Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, youll partner with Commercial and Operations Directors to ensure robust project planning, progress reporting, and programme control from pre-construction through delivery.
As our M&E Regional Head of Planning, some of your key responsibilities will include:
Undertake a detailed inspection of all pre-contract documentation and contract/sub-contract documents as well as to negotiate with customers/contractors to ensure equitable and acceptable contract agreements.
Responsible for surveying training in the Region, including taking overall responsibility for the Student Surveyors; ensuring they receive comprehensive training and support.
Provide a detailed overview on all in-progress contracts and final accounts and report any anticipated difficulties to the Commercial Director.
Responsible for compliance with the Risk Management procedures within the Region.
Check on work-in-progress on all divisional contracts and assist cash collection, and maintenance of a positive cash position on all projects.
To visit sites on a regular basis and liaise with opposite numbers in the industry.
Review, sign off, and oversee programme submissions and progress reports
Deliver planning input for major bids and support the development of delivery strategy
Drive continuous improvement in planning tools, methods, and training
Develop and maintain internal and client-facing relationships, providing planning guidance and strategic insight
Coach and develop your planning team to deliver to the highest professional standards
To succeed in this role, youll bring proven leadership experience managing planning teams and supporting regional commercial and operations. You will have deep expertise in project programming, delay analysis, EOT submissions, and progress tracking, alongside a strong understanding of construction methods, building services, and 4D planning techniques. Proficiency in Asta Powerproject, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Office is essential, as is a solid grasp of key contract types, including NEC, JCT, and bespoke agreements. Ideally you will be a strategic thinker and confident communicator, youre also collaborative, analytical, and solution-focused, someone who thrives on mentoring teams and driving performance. In addition, you will champion our SHEQ standards, consistently leading by example to maintain a safe, compliant, and high-performing site culture.
