About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to join a new children's residential care company at an exciting startup phase. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a children's home from the very beginning, working with an established organisation that brings many years of expertise in the children's care sector.
The home will provide high-quality care for up to 3 children and young people aged 8-17 with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), offering a stable, nurturing environment where they can thrive. As Registered Manager, you will be instrumental in creating a home that truly makes a difference in young lives.
This role offers the unique opportunity to be involved from the outset, including supporting the Ofsted registration process. All core policies, procedures, and operational frameworks have been professionally written and fully tailored in advance, allowing you to focus on what matters most: leadership, compliance, quality care, and building an exceptional team.
We recognise that many experienced professionals are already in employment. This role has therefore been designed to offer flexibility and additional income during the registration phase, with two distinct pathways:
Option 1 - Pre-Registration Support (Part-Time / Remote)
This option allows you to support the Ofsted registration while remaining in your current role:
Support the Ofsted registration process and preparation for the Responsible Individual and Registered Manager interviews
Attend and successfully complete the Ofsted Registered Manager interview
Complete required documentation review (all policies and procedures provided - no policy writing required)
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management fully funded - can be started during this phase
300 per month
paid throughout the pre-registration period
1,000 bonus
upon successful completion of the Ofsted interview
Can be undertaken alongside existing employment as additional income
Following successful Ofsted registration, transition into your full-time leadership role:
Permanent Registered Manager position upon registration approval
Salary 50,000 - 60,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities
Act as the Registered Manager in accordance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards
Lead and support the Ofsted registration process, ensuring all requirements are met to the highest standard
Develop and maintain robust safeguarding practices, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people
Recruit, induct, supervise, and develop a high-performing staff team committed to excellent care
Create and implement individual care plans that promote positive outcomes for each child
Build and maintain effective partnerships with placing authorities, families, and external professionals
Manage budgets, resources, and ensure efficient home operations
Maintain accurate records, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements
Lead on quality assurance, including Regulation 44 and 45 reporting and continuous improvement
Participate in the on-call rota, providing management support outside of normal working hours
Essential Requirements
Minimum 2 years' experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager in a children's residential setting
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete - fully funded)
Strong working knowledge of Ofsted requirements, the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and Quality Standards
Ability to pass Ofsted's fit person interview
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain)
Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Desirable Requirements
Experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD)
Experience of opening a new children's home or leading through an Ofsted registration
Track record of achieving Good or Outstanding Ofsted ratings
Knowledge of therapeutic approaches such as PACE, DDP, or trauma-informed care
Experience with budget management and resource planning
