Job Description

Job Purpose:

As Registered Manager, you will have full operational responsibility for the leadership, management and development of the home. You will ensure that the home provides a nurturing, safe, and therapeutic environment that meets the individual needs of children and supports them to achieve the best possible outcomes.

You will be responsible for ensuring the home is run in line with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 (including Regulation 28 - Monitoring and Reviewing the Quality of Care) and the Quality Standards, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management

? Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership of the children's home in line with the statement of purpose and regulatory requirements.

? Lead by example in setting high standards of practice and conduct among staff.

? Develop and maintain a skilled, knowledgeable, and motivated staff team through effective recruitment, induction, training, supervision, and performance management.

? Create a positive and open culture where children feel safe, respected, and listened to.

Quality and Compliance

? Maintain compliance with all statutory duties under the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, including Regulation 28 (monitoring and reviewing the quality of care).

? Prepare for and lead Ofsted inspections, ensuring the home strives for and maintains a rating of 'Good' or 'Outstanding'.

? Conduct regular Regulation 45 Quality of Care Reviews and ensure effective action planning.

? Keep detailed records and submit timely notifications to Ofsted and relevant authorities when required.

Care Planning and Safeguarding

? Ensure the holistic needs of each child are met, including their emotional, behavioural, educational, physical, and health needs.

? Promote and oversee robust safeguarding practices in line with local and national guidance.

? Ensure children's care and placement plans are implemented effectively and reviewed regularly in partnership with other professionals and agencies.

Therapeutic Practice

? Embed a trauma-informed and therapeutic model of care across the home.

? Promote attachment-aware approaches and restorative practices within the staff team.

? Ensure that children are supported in their emotional development and recovery through consistent, nurturing relationships and therapeutic routines.

Finance and Resource Management

? Manage the home's budget responsibly and ensure value for money in all expenditures.

? Maintain appropriate staffing levels to meet children's needs and regulatory requirements.

Essential Requirements:

? Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) or a commitment to enrol and complete within required timeframe.

? Minimum 3 years' experience in a position relevant to the residential care of children within the last 5 years, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.

? In-depth knowledge of The Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and relevant legislation (e.g. Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018).

? Proven track record in managing or deputising in a children's home, delivering high standards of care and improving outcomes for children.

? Strong safeguarding and child protection knowledge and experience.

? Ability to lead and manage a multidisciplinary team effectively.

? Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills (written and verbal).

? Strong IT literacy and record-keeping abilities.

? A full UK manual driving licence is essential.

Desirable:

? Prior experience as a Registered Manager.

? Experience working within a therapeutic or trauma-informed setting.

? Understanding of psychological frameworks relevant to children with EBD
