To manage all aspects of the residential home's operation and ensure that high-quality, child-centred care is delivered in line with CIW regulations, company policies, and best practice guidance.
Main Duties and Responsibilities Leadership & Management
Lead by example to create a positive, nurturing home environment.
Ensure compliance with CIW and local authority standards.
Conduct regular supervision, appraisals, and team meetings.
Recruit, train, and retain high-quality care staff.
Maintain effective rotas ensuring adequate staffing levels at all times.
Safeguarding & Quality
Ensure safeguarding procedures are always adhered to.
Report and record incidents in line with policies.
Develop and implement the home's Statement of Purpose and operational policies.
Participate in and prepare for CIW inspections.
Continuously monitor and improve the quality of care delivery.
Care Planning & Child Outcomes
Ensure each child has an up-to-date, individualised care plan.
Support young people in achieving positive educational, emotional, and social outcomes.
Work in partnership with families, social workers, therapists, and educators.
Financial & Administrative
Manage budgets effectively and ensure financial accountability.
Oversee home maintenance, health and safety, and risk assessments.
Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and compliance records.
Professional Development
Keep up to date with current legislation and best practice.
Undertake ongoing professional training and personal development.
