Registered Children's Home Manager

Job Type: Full-time



Salary: 50,000 - 70,000 (Depending on experience and qualifications)



Location: Corringham, SS17



Expected hours: Monday- Friday, 9am - 5pm, 37.5 per week plus on call schedule



Expected start date: January 2026 (Subject to satisfactory references and completion of safer recruitment checks)



Job Purpose:



To manage, operate and adhere to the homes Statement of Purpose and Function. Register and hold Registered Manager certification with Ofsted. Ensure children and young people are protected, safeguarded and promoted at all times. Complete and review children and young people's care, education, behaviour management and risk management plans, whilst always prioritising and addressing both their physical and emotional needs. Ensure effective day to day management and oversight of all areas of the homes' operations, working in line with the social care common inspection framework. Achieve and maintain an Ofsted rating of good or outstanding. Provide supervision, support and direction to staff. Ensure staff training is provided and updated in accordance with the needs of the children and young people. Serve as an inspiring example for children and young people by demonstrating integrity, optimism, hope, perseverance, and kindness in your actions. To adhere to current legislation; Children's Homes Regulations (England) 2015, Working together to safeguard children 2023, Local Authority procedures and the company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities



1.

Leadership and Management:



Provide strong leadership to staff, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of staff to ensure a skilled and motivated team.

Compliance and Regulation:



Ensure the home meets all Ofsted requirements and guidelines. Prepare for and lead Ofsted inspections, addressing any areas of improvement identified.
3.

Quality Assurance:



Monitor and evaluate the quality of care and education provided, implementing strategies for continuous improvement. Develop and maintain policies and procedures that support best practices.
4.

Child Welfare and Development:



Promote the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. Support the development of various individualised plans for children and young people.
5.

Stakeholder Engagement:



Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, guardians, and the local community. Communicate effectively with external agencies and stakeholders.
6.

Financial Management:



Oversee the budget and financial planning for the home, ensuring efficient use of resources.
7.

Reporting and Documentation:



Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by Ofsted and other regulatory bodies. Prepare reports for management and stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:



Essential:



Experience of a similar managerial role within a children and young people's residential home - minimum 2 years. Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management in Residential Childcare or the willingness to obtain it. Leading safeguarding with the relevant qualification - minimum 2 years. Experience of managing the safeguarding of children and young people - minimum 2 years. Experience in implementing quality improvement initiatives - minimum 2 years. Comprehensive knowledge of The Children's Home (England) Regulations 2015. Comprehensive knowledge of the Social Care Common Inspection Framework for Children's Homes. Right to work in the UK (we do not offer visa sponsorship).

Skills and Competencies:



Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Excellent organisational and time management abilities. Ability to work collaboratively and build effective teams. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficient in IT and management systems related to childcare.

Additional Information and Benefits:



This role may require occasional evening or weekend work for meetings and events. An Enhanced DBS check will be required for this position, paid for by us. 32 days paid holiday entitlement (Including bank holidays). Onsite parking. CPD - Training and qualifications. Pension.

STAGE TWO



You will be invited to attend an interview where you will sit a scenario-based test, an IT test and a panel interview. All interviews will be held in person and will be for approximately 2 hours.

STAGE THREE



If you have been successful, you will be sent an offer letter and a recruitment pack to complete. On successful completion of satisfactory references, safer recruitment checks and your new Enhanced DBS certificate, a start date will be confirmed.
