37.5 hours per week with on-call duties

Scope of the post:

The Manager is responsible for the day-to-day Leadership, governance, and management of the home(s). They are responsible for maintaining and promoting a positive culture and providing a secure and nurturing home for children and young people. They embed our ethos of shared core values and deliver high-quality holistic care.

Duties and responsibilities:

To ensure that agreed quality assurance is implemented and monitored within the home Liaise with Social care regulators, Professionals, Local authorities and Stakeholders. to ensure standards are maintained. To become the person responsible for the day-to-day running of the home, this includes. It was part of the on-call system for the 24-hour response. To provide and?commit to making a real difference in the lives of children and young people within our homes, providing a nurturing and therapeutic home to allow growth and development for all children. To manage the effective use of resources and maintain a high level of care. Comply with regulatory requirements, particularly Ofsted regulations (Children's Homes regulations, including the quality Standards, April 2015). Ensure policy procedures are implemented and understood by all staff. This will ensure the highest standard of care can be provided. Ensure all health and safety, fire and risk assessments are reviewed and maintained regularly, liaising with professional bodies to ensure annual servicing.
Leadership:

To lead all staff to deliver the highest possible care within safe working and living environments. Embed our core values of being respectful, courteous, considerate, trusting and consistent, honest and responsible, having high expectations and being a positive role model. To set clear boundaries and high standards of care in accordance with the home's policies and procedures. Ensure the staff selection process and recruitment are detailed, consistent, and fair, in line with safer recruitment frameworks and practices. Ensure all staff maintain registrations with their national bodies where applicable. To develop a culture of continuous quality improvement and continuous learning within the staff team, working with all employees to identify training needs and reviewing individual performance plans at least annually. Provide and arrange staff training and evaluate their effectiveness, ensuring all staff have and maintain the mandatory level of training per annum. Take responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional, competent and high-quality care. Conduct regular supervisions, probationary reviews and welfare sessions for all employees, ensuring all staff, Meet the standard of performance set out in their job descriptions. Where staff are below this standard, operate and implement a fair and robust performance plan. Ensure complaints, compliments, and suggestions are positive actions and dealt with in a timely way. To hold regular staff, young people and stakeholder meetings, providing and receiving feedback.
Care practice:

Ensure all children have an up-to-date care plan and risk assessment, which is reviewed regularly, and ensure children are involved in their care and education. Regularly monitor, review, and track the progress of care and delivery for all young people and children within the home. Ensure the home fully complies with Ofsted regulations, ensuring children have a voice, can have choice and empowerment, and their wishes and feelings are heard and acted on. Ensure the children have enough resources and equipment to meet their emotional, physical, and social needs. Oversee the home's budget. Ensure the home has a homely feel and decor, soft furnishings are of good standard, and they are replaced in a timely manner when required. Ensure children and young people have a nutritional diet and are supported in accessing appropriate health and well-being services, such as Doctors, dentists, dieticians, counsellors, etc. Ensure all children are supported and have an individualised care, risk and Positive behaviour plan; where appropriate, children have a key worker to ensure these are maintained to a high standard. Ensure meeting reports are attended for the children and young people, ensuring the external and internal team around the child is aware of all aspects of their needs. Ensure all children and young people are carefully matched before admission, and that group living is reviewed regularly as changing needs occur. Ensure professional and legal responsibilities regarding the storage, handling and administration of medication. Ensure robust safeguarding measures are in place to protect and reduce harm to children and young people and that staff are aware of the processes to follow within safeguarding. To be a Designated safeguarding lead for the home. Establish and maintain strong relationships with parents, guardians, and external professionals to ensure holistic support for children. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including social services, education providers, and healthcare professionals.
Person Specification: Registered Children's Manager.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

Level 3 Diploma in children's and young people's workforce Diploma, with social care pathway Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social care, Children's and young people's services with children and young people's residential management pathway or equivalent or working towards At least two year's experience in a managerial role within children's residential services, particularly with children who have experienced trauma. Proven experience in a managerial role within children's residential services, Comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices in children's services. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, effectively engaging with children, families, and professionals. Strong analytical skills to assess situations and make informed decisions quickly. Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team, with experience in staff recruitment and development. Strong understanding of Ofsted standards, safeguarding, and relevant legislation in children's care. Ability to drive, a clean licence, and access to a car.

Experience in budget management and financial planning within a care setting. A strong commitment to advocating for children's rights and needs. Ability to think creatively and implement new ideas for service enhancement. High standards of integrity and professionalism in all aspects of work.
