The service supports children and young people with
autism, learning disabilities, and complex needs
. You will oversee the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring
regulatory compliance, safeguarding excellence, and high-quality residential care delivery
.
You will receive
full support from an Area Manager
and work alongside an experienced, established staff team.
Key Responsibilities
Registering with
Ofsted
and maintaining full regulatory compliance
Managing an
Ofsted-registered children's home
in line with
Children's Homes Regulations 2015
Leading, motivating, and supervising a multidisciplinary residential care team
Acting as
Registered Manager
and Designated Safeguarding Lead (or equivalent)
Managing staff rotas, staffing levels, and on-call responsibilities
Ensuring safeguarding, behaviour management, and care planning standards are met
Developing a
high-quality, compliant children's residential service
Supporting inspections, audits, and quality assurance processes
Working closely with local authorities, commissioners, and external professionals
Participating in senior leadership meetings across Canary House Care services
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience as a
Children's Home Manager
,
Deputy Manager
, or
Team Leader
Minimum
1 year's leadership experience
within residential childcare
Experience working in an
Ofsted-regulated environment
Strong knowledge of
safeguarding
,
Children's Homes Regulations
, and
Ofsted frameworks
QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare
(essential)
QCF Level 5 in Leadership & Management
(desirable or willingness to work towards)
Ability to lead, mentor, and develop residential support workers
Excellent organisational, leadership, and compliance skills
Enhanced
