We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Children's Manager to help START and oversee the care and wellbeing of up to 4 children within our beautiful NEW residential home based in Nottingham. This role is crucial in ensuring that our care home provides a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for all residents, ensuring regulatory compliance. This is an exciting opportunity and a brand new set up and the candidate alongside the directors, will be involved in setting up his/her own team, policies, furnishing the property, getting ready for Ofstead etc. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a comprehensive understanding of children's home care practices
Proven experience in a leadership role within a residential childcare environment.
Comprehensive knowledge of legislation and regulations pertaining to children's homes
Requirements for a Registered Children's Home Manager
Experience:
Ideally a minimum of five years in a role directly related to residential childcare. Although we may look at strong candidates with 2 years of experience as a minimum.
Leadership:
At least two years of experience in supervising and managing staff.
Qualifications:
NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People's care or equivalent.
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) or willing to work towards.
Ofsted Performance:
A proven track record of achieving a "Good" or "Outstanding" rating in recent Ofsted inspections.
Responsibilities of a Children's Care Home Manager:
Leadership and Management
Provide strong and effective leadership to the staff team, promoting a positive and nurturing environment for children and young people.
Manage and support staff, including recruitment, training, supervision, and performance appraisals.
Ensure staff adhere to company policies, procedures, and standards of care.
Operational Oversight
Oversee the daily operations of the home, ensuring it runs efficiently and meets the needs of the children.
Develop and implement care plans tailored to the individual needs of children and young people.
Maintain appropriate staff rotas and ensure adequate staffing levels at all times.
Compliance and Safeguarding
Ensure compliance with Ofsted standards and relevant childcare legislation.
Promote and uphold safeguarding practices, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children and young people in the home.
Monitor and review policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements.
Child-Centred Care
Foster a nurturing environment that supports the emotional, physical, and educational development of children and young people.
Ensure children and young people are actively involved in decisions affecting their lives.
Promote positive relationships with families, carers, and external agencies.
Budget and Resources
Manage the home's budget effectively, ensuring financial sustainability and efficient resource allocation.
Maintain the property to a high standard, ensuring it provides a safe and welcoming environment.
Reporting and Communication
Prepare detailed reports for internal and external stakeholders, including Ofsted and local authorities.
Communicate effectively with staff, children, families, and external professionals.
Participate in regular inspections and audits to demonstrate the home's adherence to high standards.
Crisis Management
Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents, ensuring appropriate action is taken.
Provide guidance and support to staff in managing challenging behaviours or complex situations.
