Key Responsibilities
Hold full
Registered Manager responsibility
for the day-to-day running of a 3-bed EBD children's home
Ensure the home meets all
Ofsted regulations
, Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
Provide strong, visible
leadership and safeguarding oversight
, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all young people
Lead, motivate and develop a committed staff team through
effective supervision, appraisal, and training
Create a
stable, nurturing and therapeutic environment
that promotes positive outcomes for children
Maintain high standards of
care planning, risk assessment, and recording
, ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant
Build positive, professional relationships with
placing authorities, social workers, families, and external professionals
Manage
referrals, admissions, and placement matching
, ensuring placements are safe and appropriate
Oversee
staffing, rotas, budgets, and resources
to ensure effective and efficient running of the home
Respond confidently and appropriately to
safeguarding concerns, incidents, and complaints
Lead and prepare for
Ofsted inspections
, ensuring the home is inspection-ready at all times
Promote a culture of
reflective practice, continuous improvement, and child-centred care
Qualifications & Skills Required
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willing to work towards)* Proven experience in a
management or senior role
within a children's residential setting (EBD preferred)
Strong knowledge of
Children's Homes Regulations
, Quality Standards, and safeguarding requirements
Experience of leading, supervising, and developing staff teams
Confident and effective
people management and leadership
skills
Ability to make sound, child-centred decisions in
pressured or complex situations
Strong understanding of
risk assessment, care planning, and behaviour management
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to build positive working relationships with professionals and stakeholders
Good organisational and time-management skills
Confident in using IT systems and maintaining accurate, compliant records
Resilient, reflective, and able to lead with empathy and professionalism
Full UK driving licence
