This role exists to ensure registered care services are delivered in full compliance with CQC (Care Quality Commission) regulations and the Health and Social Care Act 2008. The Registered Manager will safeguard the welfare of service users, lead and develop care staff, maintain operational excellence, and ensure all care packages meet the highest regulatory standards.
The post-holder will be the named CQC Registered Manager for the service, providing accountable leadership, robust quality assurance, and driving continuous improvement in a regulated care environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Staff Management
Recruit, train, supervise, and manage care staff and field supervisors to build a capable, compliant workforce.
Foster a positive, open, and collaborative workplace culture.
Conduct regular supervision, appraisals, and team meetings.
Care Delivery & Compliance
Approve and align care packages to clients' individual needs, ensuring person-centred care and best practice.
Ensure ongoing compliance with CQC Fundamental Standards and relevant legislation.
Maintain open and effective communication with CQC, local authorities, and other regulatory bodies.
Policy & Procedure Management
Develop, create, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for care delivery.
Create, maintain, and update CQC policy documentation and service records.
Oversee audits, quality assurance processes, and risk management systems.
Service Development & Client Acquisition
Build relationships with hospital discharge teams, community services, and referral networks.
Identify and pursue opportunities for service expansion and improvement.
Onboard new clients, ensuring needs assessments are completed to a high standard.
Operational & Financial Oversight
Manage operational resources, budgets, and staffing levels efficiently.
Deliver regular performance, compliance, and quality reports to senior management/the board.
Respond promptly and effectively to incidents, complaints, and inspection findings.
Required Skills, Experience & Attributes
Detailed knowledge of CQC Fundamental Standards and the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
Proven experience recruiting, training, and supervising care staff.
Strong track record of delivering person-centred care and aligning care packages to individual needs.
Experience in creating SOPs and maintaining compliance documentation.
Excellent networking and business development skills.
Competency in risk management and quality assurance systems.
Strong organisational, budgeting, and record-keeping skills.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with staff, clients, stakeholders, and regulators.
Proven leadership ability to inspire, motivate, and support teams.
Experience managing regulatory inspections and responding to official inquiries.
Ability to drive service improvements and adapt to significant changes, such as service expansion.
Other Requirements
Enhanced DBS check required.
Must be registered with the Care Quality Commission as the Registered Manager for the service.
Some out-of-hours/on-call work will be required to respond to major incidents, emergencies, or inspection demands.
Commitment to continuous professional development (CPD) -- training and development opportunities will be provided.
Desirable
Previous experience managing services through CQC inspections with a 'Good' or 'Outstanding' rating.
Experience leading a service through periods of significant change or growth.
