Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Registered Manager to lead and manage our supported accommodation services for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people (UASC) aged 16 to 21. The service is registered with Ofsted under the supported accommodation regulations (2023), with a focus on promoting independence, safeguarding, and trauma-informed care.

The manager will oversee the daily operations of multiple accommodation units (typically 16-18 properties), ensuring the service is compliant with statutory requirements, maintains high quality standards, and provides safe and supportive environments for young people transitioning to independence.

Key Responsibilities:

Service Leadership & Compliance:

Ensure full compliance with Ofsted's supported accommodation regulations (2023) and maintain registration requirements. Lead inspections and audits; implement action plans in response to regulatory or internal reviews. Maintain and implement robust policies around safeguarding, whistleblowing, complaints, and young people's rights.
Operational Management:

Oversee the day-to-day operations of 16-18 supported accommodation properties across [geographical area]. Ensure all services deliver consistent, high-quality support tailored to the individual needs of UASC. Develop and maintain placement pathways for young people aged 16-21, including those on extended support plans.
Staff Management:

Recruit, train, and manage a team of support workers, team leaders, and senior staff. Conduct regular supervision, appraisals, and performance reviews. Ensure staff are trained in safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, asylum and immigration awareness, and cultural competence.
Safeguarding & Welfare:

Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or work closely with the DSL. Ensure all safeguarding concerns are acted upon in line with local authority protocols and statutory guidance. Support young people with accessing education, legal advice, health care, and therapeutic services.
Young People's Outcomes:

Promote independence, resilience, and integration into the community. Oversee pathway plans, risk assessments, and care/support plans tailored to UASC and their asylum journeys. Support transitions into adult services, private tenancies, or return-to-country options where applicable.
Partnership Working:

Build effective relationships with local authorities, Home Office, immigration solicitors, IROs, and health professionals. Attend statutory meetings, LAC reviews, and planning panels. Engage with external agencies to support young people's welfare, education, and legal processes.

Essential Requirements:

Previous experience managing supported accommodation, semi-independent provision, or similar UASC or care-leaver services. In-depth knowledge of Ofsted's supported accommodation framework (2023). Experience supporting unaccompanied asylum seekers or vulnerable young people in care or leaving care. Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent). Strong understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed care, and the asylum/immigration process. Enhanced DBS check and registration with Ofsted as a service manager.

Experience with multi-site management. Cultural competence and ability to support young people from diverse backgrounds.
