Job Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse (night shift) to join our clients' healthcare team.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to providing exceptional patient care and will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing services. This role requires a thorough understanding of patient needs, medication administration, and anatomy knowledge to ensure optimal health outcomes for patients. You will work closely with the young people who use the services, their families, carers and external professionals.

You will need to be a confident, autonomous practitioner who takes responsibility for both the care you give to the young person and for overseeing the work of others in the team including less experienced nurses and staff without a professional qualification.

Responsibilities



Providing skilled, evidence-based nursing care which adheres to agreed policies, procedures and client-centred formulations

Working with young person and families in all stages of the care planning process including assessing risks and needs to promote good risk management and harm minimisation

Acting as patient advocates in the multi-disciplinary team and overseeing the work of others to ensure that they are also responding to the needs of young person to promote independence

Working as autonomous practitioners and taking responsibility for the care they give to young person but also working as team members providing clinically effective care

Reflecting on their own practice regularly and encouraging the whole team to reflect on their practices in handovers and team meetings

Encouraging the team to learn from adverse events or respond to data analysis from audits and implement initiatives which improve clinical outcomes

Promoting psychological interventions and therapy (in particular Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) as a means to achieve long term, sustainable recovery.

Experience



A valid nursing qualification and registration with the relevant nursing authority is essential. Previous experience working in a mental health setting, ideally with children or young adults. CAMHs experience is preferred but not essential. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with patients and their families. Proven ability to work effectively within a team as well as independently when required. A compassionate approach with a strong focus on patient-centred care is essential for success in this role.
You will work a rotating shift pattern. One week is Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday then the following is Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. You will work 7.50 am until 8.05 pm and 7.50 pm until 8.05 am.
