Description
As a Registered Mental Health Nurse, you will work as part of a multi practitioner team supporting children and young people within a residential setting. You will assist in the development and implementation of the young person's care plan and Therapeutic Mental Health Intervention ensuring their needs are met.
Main Responsibilities:
Provide direct nursing support to young people as part of a team delivering holistic and therapeutic support.
Work alongside a staff team to bring your clinical skills and knowledge to ensure the young person's mental and physical health needs are met.
You will be entered onto a staffing rota which will include supporting handovers at the start and end of every shift.
You will attend supervisions when required. o You will ensure the client's model is delivered, and progress is recorded in line with expectations and to a high standard.
Assist with the development and implementation of Multi-Agency Support Plans, Behaviour Analysis Reports, Risk Assessments and Care Plans.
Send hourly recording logs to the management and psychology team to ensure we are operating evidence-based practice to the highest standards.
Due to the nature of the client, tasks and responsibilities are, in many circumstances, unpredictable and varied. All staff are, therefore, expected to work in a flexible way when the occasion arises, when tasks not specifically covered in their job description must be undertaken. These additional duties will normally be to cover unforeseen circumstances or changes in work, and they will normally be compatible with the regular type of work. If the additional responsibility or task becomes a regular or frequent part of the member of staff's job, it will be included in the job description in consultation with the member of staff.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
Qualified registered mental health nurse.
Experience working with young people (particularly those that may present with distressed behaviour) in family situations, school, children's residential services.
Experience in working with young people that have a learning disability, Autism and/or have experienced Trauma (including Trauma from unmet needs).
Desirable:
PMVA trained
Skills for the role
Ability to understand children and young people that may present with distressed behaviour because of past experiences and have patience to help them work through those behaviours and not take their behaviour personally.
Trauma informed.
Understand the biopsychosocial approach.
Can handle conflict, use initiative and work as part of a team.
Strong oral and written communication skills appropriate to the needs of children and the staff group.
Ability to have good organisational and time management skills
