What you can add:
To work as a member of the Mental Health Service at HMP Pentonville
To work across the service functions including early days in custody, planned care, crisis care and release and transfer.
To be responsible for implementing sound clinical skills in mental health practice, including CPA care co-ordination, group work, risk assessment and management and crisis intervention.
Be responsible and accountable for the management of own caseload as directed by the Mental Health Hub Manager.
To provide skilled assessments of patients' emotional and psychological needs based upon the understanding, interpretation and integration of complex data given by the patient and obtained from other sources.
To provide psychosocial interventions for patients with moderate to complex mental health difficulties.
Ability to plan and organise a range of complex clinical activities which require judgments to be made on competing factors.
Ability to undertake risk assessments using standardised or semi structured risk assessment methods.
Ability to prioritise workload and emergency / crisis referrals.
Ability to formulate care plans and packages of care.
Ability to care co-ordinate within CPA.
Ability to network, collaborate and liaise with other agencies.
Ability to deal with challenging and complex situations and to community effectively with patients and associated parties.
Ability to work independently and autonomously.
Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
Specialist knowledge of Mental Health Act 1983 Part II and Part III (as amended by the Mental Health Act 2007)
An understanding of issues relating to equal opportunities and confidentiality.
Competency in safe storage and administration of medicines.
Ability to manage conflict.
The role will involve but not be limited to you performing the above.
What you'll need:
A minimum of 6 months paid experience in a Mental Health hospital environment within the last 3 years
Comply with NMC Professional Registration and keep up to date with current nursing practices
Dip/BSc (Hons) in Mental Health Nursing, Social Work or Occupational Therapy
Evidence of further post registration education and training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification.
Post registration experience as a Band 5 Mental Health Nurse/OT or Social Worker, preferably within a Forensic Setting.
*Depending on the Trust, you may require variable additional certification and skills.
