Job Summary



Established in 2013, The Occupational Health Team based in Newry Co. Down, has experienced steady growth, evolving into a trusted provider of comprehensive occupational health services within both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland across a wide range of industries to include manufacturing, engineering, construction, food and pharmaceutical.

We are currently recruiting for a Registered Nurses to join our clinical team. We are particularly interested in nurses who already hold an occupational health qualification or those who have experience within an occupational health setting.

Job Purpose



Carry out health surveillance and screening to ensure compliance with Occupational health legislation, including pre-employment assessments and statutory surveillance (e.g. audiometry and spirometry), to identify early signs of work-related ill health and assess fitness for role.

Assess fitness for work, manage sickness absence, and support return-to-work plans by evaluating employees' physical and mental capability, providing clinical input on absence cases, and creating tailored rehabilitation or phased return programmes and necessary workplace adjustments.

Develop and deliver health promotion and wellbeing initiatives in line with national days to foster a healthy, productive workplace culture.

Participate in risk assessments and advise on health-related risks in collaboration with safety teams, offering expert input on control measures to reduce occupational illness and injury.

Maintain accurate, confidential health records in accordance with GDPR and NMC and NMBI standards.

Engage in continuous professional development (CPD) to meet NMC and NMBI revalidation requirements, including relevant training, clinical supervision, and participation in staff meetings

Support the team in staying current with best practices in occupational health and encourage awareness of emerging evidence and standards.

Essential Criteria



Applicants must be able to demonstrate how they meet each element of the following essential criteria by the closing date:

1. Registered Nurse (Adult) currently live on the register with NMC and/or NMBI.

2. Have at least 3 years post registration experience in an acute clinical setting.

3. A current full driving licence and access to a vehicle suitable for business purposes.

4. Be fully eligible to work in the UK.

5. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word & Excel.

Desirable Criteria



1. 1 years' experience in Occupational Health gained within the last 3 years.

2. Hold a dual Nurse registration for both NMC and NMBI

3. Specialist Community Public Health Nurse registered on Part 1 and Part 3 of the NMC Register and/ or registered in the general divisions of NMBI.

4. Have undertaken or currently engaged in an Audiometry and Spirometry training programme.
