Job Description

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated & enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our Regional Ophthalmology unit at Nevill Hall Hospital.



The post holder is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidenced based nursing care, working collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.



To contribute to the smooth running of the department in terms of taking charge of the department in the absence of the department manager and deputy, assisting in all clinical areas as required.



The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.



Job Summary/Job Purpose:



To assess patients nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in order to ensure the delivery of effective patient care.



Ensure the principles set out in the Fundamentals of Care are incorporated into daily practice to ensure a high-quality service for patients and clients.



Maintain patients nursing records to ensure information is accurate and up to date.



Ensure patient needs are met by working collaboratively with other professionals and agencies, especially in relation to ongoing care needs.



Communicate complex and sensitive information to patients/families, including patients with special needs/learning disabilities or other barriers to communication.



Carry out procedure in relation to care of patients eg., venepuncture, cannulation, removal of sutures.



To act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
