Job Description

An exiting opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse to join our trauma and orthopaedic surgical wards in the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.



The ward specialises in both trauma and elective orthopaedic patients as well as receiving patients from the major trauma centre.



The successful candidate will be required to have an interest in the management and care of surgical trauma and elective orthopaedic patients with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.



Staff will be required to be well organised and have time good time management skills and the ability to work as part of a team or on their own initiative with high standards.



There will be opportunities for internal development as the University Health Board has a dedicated training and development department offering a wide range of in house courses. We also have close links with the University South Wales to support your ongoing professional development which you will be required to demonstrate as part of revalidation.



Welsh Skills Desirable:

This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency ', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. The Health Board currently operate a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5 hour shift, inclusive of either one 30 minute or two 30-minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements.
