Job Description

The post holder has the responsibility as a registered, accountable and autonomous nurse to act in the best interests of patients at all times and take the responsibility for own actions and decisions. You will be responsible for the planning, delivering and supervising of safe and compassionate care, and evaluating the effectiveness of that care. You will be required to demonstrate leadership qualities and be open, transparent and trustworthy.



The post holder will be responsible for own practice and also will support the team in compliance with clinical procedures, protocols and practise to ensure effective delivery of service to patients within the trust. The post holder will always work within the NMC's Code of professional conduct



The role will involve working on a busy Urology investigations unit, partaking in clinical activity and receiving patients with acute urology needs from Accident and Emergency.



Ensure that the patient's pathway through the unit is delivered efficiently and with expert clinical and effective communication skills.



Good knowledge of Urology diagnostics and catheters.



Act as a professional and role model in all aspects of work.



Maintain clear accurate records of all patients' interventions in line with the trust record keeping standards.



Ensure that all nursing care provided with compassion, is of a high standard, appropriate and is consistent with clinical guidelines, is evidence based and meets individual needs.



Perform recording of vital signs demonstrating an awareness of normal blood pressure, pulse, temperature and respiratory parameters and know how to act on results outside of normal parameters.



Can communicate effectively with patients, carers, MDT colleagues and outside agencies on a range of matters.



Can provide information and advice to patients and carers regarding all aspects of the clinical management after consultation, ensure that the patient is aware of the outcome of their care and any subsequent follow-up arrangements.



Can demonstrate all aspects of medicine safety utilising the safe medicines management policy.



Is confidently able to apply problem solving skills to a range of clinical practice situations



Can prioritise own workload efficiently.
