Job Description

We are looking to recruit a motivated, hardworking Nursing Associate to join the Children's Outpatient Department; the successful applicant should have excellent communication skills.



We expect you to perform with passion and drive, provide excellent care, and be supportive to patients, relatives, and other MDT members. You will be expected to promote an excellent standard of patient centred care in a supported environment. You must be prepared to work well within a team and have good interpersonal skills. We are seeking people that can demonstrate the trust values. Successful candidates must possess good IT skills.



The successful applicant will be able to develop their existing knowledge and skills in supporting children, young people and families with managing diabetes. The post will involve home visits and school visits so ability to travel is essential.



You must be currently registered with the NMC as a nurse associate



The Children's Ambulatory unit is made up of our Children's Outpatient Department and Ocean Day Unit (ODU). ODU is a 5 bedded unit that caters to patients from multiple specialties, including haematology, endocrine, allergy, oncology, rheumatology and many more. Children attend the unit for procedures, treatments, and diagnostic scans.



Children's Outpatients Department which runs in conjunction with ODU. It caters for all disciplines within the paediatric service and offers opportunities to work alongside teams, offering a truly multi-disciplinary approach to health care, including nurse-led clinics.



The nursing associate has a breadth of knowledge across the lifespan and across the fields of nursing, providing holistic and person-centred care supporting patients of all ages and in a variety of settings. The nursing associate works independently under the leadership of registered nurses, working within the scope of nursing care and within all aspects of the nursing process.



Nursing associates are equipped with knowledge relevant to employment as a nursing associate and will work to a nationally recognised code of conduct.



We offer a competency-based framework of development with support from our practice development team. We can offer you excellent educational opportunities from in house study courses to post graduate education through our affiliated universities.

This includes health visitors and school nurses who are delivering the national Healthy Child Programme, which provides a structured framework for the delivery of key interventions to support the health and wellbeing of children and families from 0 to 5 and school aged children from 5-19. The 0-19 service aims to improve pathways and partnerships with services in the hospital and deliver excellent care for the children and families.
