We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our welcoming and experienced team. This is a varied and rewarding role within a small, close-knit, community-focused practice where your skills will be truly valued and your professional growth actively encouraged.###

The Role

In this role, you will undertake a wide range of first opinion nursing duties, including monitoring anaesthesia, assisting with imaging such as radiography and ultrasound, running laboratory samples, conducting nurse clinics, and supporting vets during consultations. Additionally, you will provide valuable assistance to our receptionist with reception duties. As a small clinic, the role is varied and no two days are the same, offering a dynamic and engaging working environment.###

What You'll Bring

You will ideally have experience working in a veterinary practice with hands-on clinical skills. Proficiency in laboratory procedures related to animal care and diagnostics is important, as is excellent communication to interact effectively with pet owners and team members. The ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong attention to detail is essential. You should also have strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently and demonstrate a compassionate and empathetic approach towards animals and their owners.###

Who We Are

Companion Vets is a small animal first opinion practice based in Balderton, close to Newark town centre. Having been established in Newark for many years, we are fortunate to have a loyal and caring client base, many of whom are proactive about preventative healthcare for their pets. Our site is well-equipped with in-house laboratory facilities, ultrasound, diagnostics, and digital X-ray. Our team comprises a Veterinary Surgeon, two Registered Veterinary Nurses, a Veterinary Care Assistant, Receptionist, and Practice Manager. Our vet is currently working towards a Certificate in Small Animal Medicine, and we encourage ongoing professional development, supporting any certificate goals or areas of professional interest.

We believe we offer a supportive and friendly environment for all new staff members. Our practice culture is open to new ideas and passionate about continuously improving patient care and clinical standards.###

Working Hours

This position involves working 31 hours per week, including a 1 in 4 Saturday rota. Our clinic operates Monday to Friday from 08:00am to 7:00pm and Saturdays from 08:00am to 12:30pm. There are no out-of-hours or on-call duties as these are covered by Vets Now. We place our people at the heart of everything we do, supporting them with a flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours.
