MAIN SCOPE OF JOB:



To manage all aspects of the home in order to achieve all business objectives
(as Registered Manager) KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include ensuring Standards of Care & Support Practices are maintained, along with maintaining the highest standards throughout the home ensuring each Service User has a relevant (in date) support plan package taking into account the principles of person centred planning.

To Maintain Health and Safety standards according to company policy, including accident reporting and compilation of a monthly accident summary. To Recruit and retain adequate numbers of support and bank staff to ensure all shifts can be covered and each service users needs are met and Identify training needs, monitor and record all staff training including Induction, Foundation,
Supervision and Appraisals using the Training Policy.

To ensure financial records are managed in accordance with company policy and procedure. To Participate in the preparation of annual budgets, Review all expenditure against budget taking action when necessary to control or reduce costs and ensure staffing hours are kept within agreed levels. To gain authorisation from the Service Manager for any exceptional costs
(outside the budget) review any proposed capital expenditure with the AreaManager/Estates Manager prior to submitting a capital request and submit a monthly management report commenting on the homes performance, staff hours, marketing etc.

To ensure that all furnishings and fittings are maintained to the required standard. Must be able to produce written communication both internal and to external agencies in a professional way and to a high standard Regulatory and Statutory Obligations Ensure compliance with the requirements of all regulatory bodies (e.g. the
Commission for Social Care Inspection, The Health and Safety Executive, Adult Protection, Fire Safety, Environmental Health).

Ensure copies of any such inspection reports from regulatory bodies are forwarded in a timely fashion to the Service Manager and the
Company headquarters for company records.

Action the recommendations on any inspection reports to ensure any statutory requirements are met within the time frames stated. Provide feedback following an inspection the Area Manager, highlighting any areas of immediate concern. Copy reports to Service Manager and Head Office.

Person Specification



To have knowledge of Social Care and issues of people with learning disabilities, key worker systems and service user reviews. Diversity and disability awareness. Relevant Health & Safety legislation demonstrating a clear understanding of risk assessment and risk management. Experience in support, supervision and appraisal of staff. Leadership and team building skills with the ability to motivate yourself and others. Ability to liaise with other healthcare professionals and advocates of service users. Ability to cope with stressful situations and deal with conflicting demands of the service and to be able to manage the service in the absence of the registered manager.

Staff:



1.1 To provide leadership, guidance and support to staff, in order to ensure that they are fully acquainted with their task and the means of achieving it.

1.2 To ensure that all staff are aware of the importance of maintaining confidentiality with regards to service users and their records, and other sensitive information regarding Meadowview Care Ltd business.

1.3 To attend multidisciplinary reviews as required.

1.4 To ensure that colleagues are fully informed of recent developments at hand over times.

1.5 To delegate tasks as required to ensure the smooth running of the home.

1.6 To encourage and motivate staff to develop their skills and to undertake vocational training.

1.7 To comply with relevant legislation and policies and procedures. To maintain standards of care and report to the Service Manager any breaches in professional practice.

Service Users:



2.1 To manage the admission and discharge of service users, ensuring as far as possible that they feel welcomed and made at home on admission, and that they are prepared for discharge.

2.2 To ensure that the needs of each individual service user are met by contributing to the assessment of the needs of each service user and the planning of care plans and support to meet those needs.

2.3 To continuously seek out ways of developing the service provided to the service users.

2.4 To contribute to and to monitor records regarding individual service users, and to ensure service user confidentiality in record keeping and discussion concerning service users.

2.5 To ensure the Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities

(CTPLD) workers are actively involved with service user's cases and fully informed of developments and consult them on proposed changes to care plans.

2.6 To encourage service users to live a full and active life, planning and arranging social and recreational activities within the home and in the local community, and organizing holidays as appropriate to offer service users the opportunity to live as normal a life as possible.

2.7 To liaise with both internal and external agencies as necessary in relation to the needs of individual service users.

2.8 To provide high standards of cleanliness, comfort and homeliness.

2.9 To have particular regard for the health of service users. To administer medication as prescribed by the General Practitioner.

4.1 To keep abreast of developments in Meadowview Care Ltd practice and theory through supervision and participation in vocational training.

4.2 To be individually accountable for standards of professional practice.

4.3 To undertake any other related duties commensurate with the general level of responsibility of the post.

4.4 Provide an "on call" service to the home.

MANAGER - RESIDENTIAL SERVICES FOR PEOPLE WITH A


LEARNING DISABILITIES



SELECTION CRITERIA:



1. A through understanding of the needs of people with a learning disability.

2. Ability to work shifts/weekends/Bank Holidays and undertake sleep in duties on a rota basis.

3. Ability to write clear reports and keep accurate records.

4. Desire and ability to work in a service user centered way.
