We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Surgical Registrar to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing patient registrations, ensuring accurate documentation, and providing exceptional service within a surgical setting. This position requires proficiency in medical terminology, coding, and experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems. The Surgical Registrar will be responsible for facilitating smooth operations between patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff.
Duties
Manage patient registrations and verify insurance information to ensure accurate billing processes.
Utilize EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for documentation and patient record management.
Conduct thorough documentation reviews to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and accuracy in medical records.
Assist with medical coding using ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes, as well as CPT coding for surgical procedures.
Provide clerical support including filing, scheduling appointments, and answering multi-line phone systems with professionalism.
Maintain patient care plans and facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers.
Ensure the front desk operations run smoothly while delivering excellent customer service to patients.
Collaborate with medical staff to streamline administrative processes and improve patient experience.
Requirements
Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is preferred; familiarity with surgical environments is a plus.
Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, insurance verification processes, and health information management.
Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply; excellent communication skills are essential.
Ability to demonstrate strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and typing proficiency (10 key typing).
Experience with medical billing and coding practices is advantageous.
Knowledge of dental terminology or experience in dental office management is a plus but not required.
