Job Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cardiology Registrar to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in managing patient records, supporting clinical documentation, and ensuring accurate medical coding within our cardiology department. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic medical environment, utilizing advanced Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and contributing to quality patient care. The Cardiology Registrar will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to facilitate efficient clinic operations and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.

Duties



Collect and verify medical information related to cardiology patients, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation. Utilize EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and Dentrix for data entry, documentation review, and record management. Perform insurance verification and assist with billing processes including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and medical billing procedures. Review patient care plans, update medical records, and ensure proper documentation of clinical encounters. Support administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling, patient intake, filing medical records, and managing multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette. Maintain knowledge of medical terminology specific to cardiology and related fields; stay current with healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance. Assist in the preparation of reports related to health information management and documentation review for quality assurance. Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure accurate coding for Medicare and other insurance claims using ICD coding standards. Provide bilingual support if applicable to enhance patient service delivery.

Qualifications



Prior experience in a medical office setting or clinic environment preferred; experience in cardiology or hospital settings is advantageous. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing processes. Familiarity with health information management practices including documentation review and insurance verification. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to handle typing (including 10 key typing) efficiently. Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in clerical tasks such as filing and data entry. Strong communication skills with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are a plus. Knowledge of dental terminology or dental office experience is beneficial but not required. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced healthcare environment; compliance with HIPAA regulations is mandatory.
