Your role:
As Regulatory Advice & Policy Specialist, you will join us for a fixed term period of 12 months to provide a quality support service to the Wesleyan Group of companies. You will ensure our compliance with applicable legislative and regulatory matters affecting the administration, design and distribution of Wesleyan manufactured and third-party products, as well as those affecting financial planning and advice matters. You'll cascade information to the Group on emerging regulatory or legislative change, and will review / sign off key documentation from across the Group.
The successful candidate will either hold or being working towards a Financial Services related professional qualification such as a Level 4 Diploma or equivalent (eg ICA Diploma in Governance, Risk & Compliance or CII Diploma in Financial Planning)
We are particularly interested in reviewing applications from candidates who have experience of distribution through platforms, or a good understanding of MiFID and IDD, including product knowledge relating to UCITS and IBIPs or a good understanding of CASS rules.
What you'll be doing:
Legislative/regulatory change
Support in the identification of legislative/regulatory changes, developments and announcements arising from relevant sources (for example the FCA and PRA).
Support in the analysis of legislative/regulatory developments and determine the impact on Wesleyan's business.
Support in the communication of details of legislative/regulatory developments to all relevant business areas in a timely manner, using a suitable method of communication and including an appropriate level of detail.
Support for business-as-usual activities
Provide advice and guidance on regulatory and technical matters to Wesleyan Group staff in relation to business-as-usual matters, the provision of financial advice to customers, process change initiatives, sales initiatives, marketing campaigns and product developments.
Contribute as appropriate to product development strategy and support product developments.
Provide support to business areas with the submission of regulatory and statutory returns.
Review and approval
Contribute to the review and sign-off of customer-facing documentation, including key features documents, statement mailings, policy documents, media articles, training materials and all forms of financial promotions.
Contribute to the review and approval of changes or additions to advice guidelines and suitability reports as well as instigating changes where a need is recognised.
Project support
Supporting relevant Group projects, working closely with the RAP Manager and with Change Management to ensure resources are managed effectively.
Contributing directly to project related work as appropriate, ensuring legislative/regulatory compliance matters are considered from outset and at all stages; risks are assessed and documented appropriately, and any concerns are escalated to the RAP Manager.
We're looking for:
Demonstrated Financial Services Regulatory / Compliance experience.
Hold or be prepared to work towards a Financial Services related professional qualification (Level 4 Diploma). E.g. CII Diploma in Financial Planning.
Good knowledge and understanding of the Regulatory framework of the UK financial services industry (including of relevant sections of the FCA handbook) and/or of the tax and legislative framework governing UK financial products (for examples registered pension schemes, ISAs and life insurance contracts).
Strong understanding of the financial planning process as applicable to retail and commercial clients.
Able to analyse and interpret legislation, regulation and industry guidance, and exercise sound judgement and decision-making in the application of regulatory and technical standards.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
