Job description
The Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) regulates for a viable, efficient, and well governed social housing sector able to deliver quality homes and services for current and future tenants. We do this by setting standards and carrying out robust regulation, taking appropriate action where needed.
With a career at RSH you'll be joining an organisation that gives you the opportunity to make a difference to people's lives, regulating a sector that houses 4 million people across England.
Working as part of our Regulatory Engagement Directorate, you will manage the delivery of effective regulation of landlords as we make sure they are well run and financially viable. Our regulation continues to drive social landlords to deliver improvements in the safety and quality of homes and engage with tenants in the delivery of services.
As a Regulatory Engagement Manager (REM) you will play a key part in this. You will deliver effective engagement for an assigned portfolio of landlords, supporting colleagues in engaging with landlords, carrying out assessments and inspections of how landlords are delivering against regulatory standards. This includes seeking evidence on the effectiveness of landlord's governance and management of strategic risks (where applicable) and the extent to which they deliver good service outcomes, transparency and accountability to their tenants. Where improvements are required, you will be involved in the design of follow-up interventions and will work with the landlord to ensure effective delivery.
Person specification
As the successful candidate, you will have a sound understanding of regulator's role and have relevant experience in a housing, governance, assurance, risk management or other comparable regulatory environment. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience of managing relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, as well as strong analytical evaluation skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgement.
You will be able to evaluate how organisations apply principles of good governance and risk management and the risk environment in which registered providers operate. You will be able to work across team boundaries in a collaborative and inclusive way and will have a high level of personal organisation, with the ability to consistently meet deadlines and manage competing priorities across your work.
