Job Summary:



The Rehabilitation Support Assistant (Brain Injury) provides direct support to individuals who have sustained brain injuries, assisting them in their rehabilitation process. The role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team to implement personalized rehabilitation plans, promoting physical, cognitive, and emotional recovery. The Assistant will support clients in daily activities, therapeutic exercises, and social integration, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:



Client Support:

Assist clients with brain injuries in performing daily living activities, including personal care, mobility, and meal preparation and rehabilitation services alongside their own OT. Support clients in following rehabilitation plans designed by healthcare professionals, including exercises and cognitive tasks. Monitor and report any changes in clients' physical or mental health to the supervising therapist or coordinator. Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients and their families, helping them cope with the challenges of brain injury recovery.

Therapeutic Activities:

Facilitate and participate in therapeutic activities, such as memory exercises, speech practice, and motor skills development. Assist in organizing and conducting group activities that promote social interaction and cognitive engagement. Help clients use assistive devices and adaptive equipment as part of their rehabilitation process.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and timely records of clients' progress, behaviors, and any incidents that occur during sessions. Communicate effectively with the rehabilitation team, participating in meetings and case reviews to discuss client progress. Adhere to all confidentiality and privacy regulations regarding client information.

Environmental and Safety Management:

Ensure the safety of clients at all times, following protocols for emergency situations. Prepare and maintain a clean, organized, and supportive environment for rehabilitation activities. Assist in the transportation of clients to appointments, therapy sessions, and community outings as needed. You must have business insurance as you will be transporting client to the rehabilitation centre in Gateshead. Full Mileage will be given for this role

Qualifications:



Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification or coursework in rehabilitation, healthcare, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

Previous experience working with individuals with brain injuries, disabilities, or in a rehabilitation setting is highly desirable. Experience in caregiving, nursing assistance, or occupational therapy support is an asset.

Skills:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and work effectively in a team. Patience, empathy, and understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with brain injuries. Ability to follow detailed rehabilitation plans and accurately document client progress. Basic knowledge of brain injury symptoms, rehabilitation techniques, and assistive devices.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, transferring, and assisting clients with mobility. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by client needs.

Certifications:

CPR and First Aid certification is required. A valid driver's license may be required for some positions.

Background Check:

Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.
