Relationship Director

HSBC UK Leveraged Finance is a national business consisting of c.100 colleagues, across 16 offices covering c.350+ clients and a diverse range of Private Equity ("PE") relationships. The business is market leader consisting of four key areas of expertise: Origination, Execution, Financial Sponsor Coverage & Client Coverage. The customer base is varied and can range in size from a turnover of typically 100m to more than 2bn. The team is sector agnostic, but most customers are categorised by their Private Equity (PE) ownership. Lending money to support PE firms with Leveraged Buyouts is often complex in nature and therefore subject to sophisticated financial modelling, structuring and downside sensitivities.

Role Purpose





The Relationship Director will be responsible for a portfolio of dynamic fast-growing companies under PE ownership who look to their Relationship Director & wider relationship team to support them with their highly complex business needs through tailor made solutions, whilst ensuring we are treating our customers fairly.

You will be responsible for:





Managing a portfolio of fast paced Private Equity backed clients with complex structures. Conducting credit reviews including credit analysis and the structuring of facilities, ensuring focus is given to credit risk management Tracking the financial performance of the client and ensuring they continue to be able to comply with the terms of the banking facilities provided Leading client meetings and supporting the development of and strengthening of mutually beneficial customer relationships and identifying and meeting client needs Acting as a key member of the wider deal team to ensure transactions are concluded, often within challenging time frames, whilst maintaining compliance with bank procedures Playing an active role in representing Leveraged Finance in the marketplace including attending external events Supporting the wider business on strategic initiatives to ultimately ensure Leveraged Finance continues to be one of the best places to work in HSBC

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:





Either have experience of Leveraged Finance or managing highly complex clients at Relationship Director level or Senior Associate level and seeking to further challenge themselves through working in one of the most dynamic areas of HSBC Able to influence others and build positive working relationships with customers, business introducers and colleagues Experience in managing and delivering commercial relationships, some with international requirements High level of business acumen and commercial awareness, including of economic, cultural, procedural, and regulatory issues Ability to gather, analyse and interpret comprehensive information Strong credit assessment skills, particularly in relation to more complex and structured facilities with an international dimension Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to adapt style and approach Ability to prioritise and manage business tasks - Organised but able to manage the unexpected, escalating where appropriate Experience in supporting others, enabling them to achieve by providing guidance, motivation and support would be advantageous


The base location is Reading. This is a hybrid role and travel to the office and customer locations near the office will be required.
