We are looking for a flexible person for a
dual role of Relief HGV Class 2 Driver and Yard Operative
, within our busy timber and builder's merchant branch at Cottingham.

Relief HGV Driver/Yard Operative role responsibilities
Delivering goods on the Company Class 2 HGV vehicle to cover other driver holidays and absence, as and when required
Ensure all goods are loaded, secured and delivered safely and professionally
Ensure all required paperwork is completed at point of delivery/collection
Operate in accordance with training and HTG's Policies & Procedures.
Comply with health and safety legislation, Company health and safety policies and procedures and current EU Road Transport Regulations at all times
Ensure the delivery vehicle is roadworthy and daily vehicle walk rounds have been completed and recorded
Loading and unloading delivery vehicles by hand or with a sideloader/forklift truck
Moving stock to storage areas and sorting and grading stock
Picking and packing orders
Keeping all work areas clean and tidy and ensure all duties are carried out as part of a safe working environment in strict compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures (including manual handling)
Responsibility for minimising stock losses by checking customer vehicles before they leave the site
Answering queries from commercial customers or members of the public
Any other duties deemed as reasonable within the scope of the job role
What are the requirements to become part of our team?
Experience of working within a Timber/Builder's Merchant is an advantage, although full training can be provided for the right applicant
Full manual driving licence
Class 2 HGV licence
HIAB remote operation experience (desirable)
Experience of multi-drop delivery driving
Warehouse and customer service experience
Health & Safety awareness
Sideloader and/or FLT licence (desirable)
Aged 21 or over (insurance requirement for all driving roles within our business)
Availability to work full time, Monday to Friday inclusive, plus alternate Saturday mornings which are paid as overtime (0800-1200).
