is responsible for drafting architectural designs and construction documents comply with current UK Building Regulations and associated legislation. This role involves reviewing design proposals, and coordinating with Building Control bodies and local authorities to secure statutory approvals. The Architect will work remotely, supporting multiple projects while maintaining close communication with internal teams, consultants, and clients to achieve safe, compliant, and high-quality design outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Review and assess architectural drawings and specifications for compliance with the
UK Building Regulations 2010 (as amended)
and relevant
Approved Documents (A-R)

Provide expert advice on building standards, including
fire safety

accessibility

structural integrity

ventilation

acoustic performance

Prepare and coordinate
Building Control submissions
(Full Plans, Building Notice, or Regularisation applications).
Liaise with
Local Authority Building Control (LABC)

Approved Inspectors
to address compliance queries and obtain necessary approvals.
Ensure designs meet related UK legislation, including the
Town and Country Planning Act

Identify non-compliance risks and propose practical design adjustments to resolve them efficiently.
Maintain detailed records of correspondence, compliance checks, and approvals.
Stay up to date with legislative changes, updates to Approved Documents, and evolving best practices in UK building compliance.
Support internal teams and clients by delivering clear technical advice and regulatory guidance.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related discipline (required).
Professional Accreditation:
ARB registration and/or RIBA Chartered Membership (preferred).
Experience:
Proven professional experience in architectural design and
UK Building Regulations compliance
(required).
Knowledge:
Comprehensive understanding of the
UK Building Regulations 2010

Approved Documents

Familiarity with
Planning Permission
processes and coordination with

Skills:
