Job Description

We are specialist providers of clinical pharmacy services for PCNs and GP practices across the UK.

Clinical Support Solutions are looking to recruit two Pharmacy Technicians for primary care networks (PCNs) nationwide. We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technicians who have previous experience of working in primary care.

Full time and part time roles available with excellent rates of pay.

Remote working available.

The purpose of the role is to maximise safe, cost-effective, prescribing to improve the quality of patient care. The post-holder will help patients get the best from their medicines, use existing protocols to maximise cost-effective preparations, improve repeat prescribing processes (including use of electronic repeat dispensing and online ordering), minimising clinical risk and reducing avoidable wasted medicines. As well, the post-holder will develop and encourage a positive culture of medicines optimisation principles to assist the PCN in achieving local and national medicines-related objectives.

Essential Requirements

Candidates

must

:

Have a

minimum of 2 years' experience working in primary care (GP practice and/or PCN)

Have

completed the CPPE Primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway (PCPEP)

or equivalent Be

GPhC-registered

as a Pharmacy Technician Be confident using clinical systems and working within multidisciplinary teams
Purpose of the Role

The purpose of the role is to

maximise safe, cost-effective prescribing

and improve the

quality of patient care

across the PCN.

The post-holder will:

Help patients get the best from their medicines Use existing protocols to maximise cost-effective prescribing and formulary-compliant choices Improve repeat prescribing processes (including

electronic repeat dispensing

and

online ordering

) Minimise clinical risk and reduce avoidable medicines waste Promote and embed a

positive culture of medicines optimisation

to support achievement of local and national objectives (including QOF and ICB priorities)

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Support the PCN to achieve

efficiencies and effectiveness

within its prescribing activities Promote

high-quality, cost-effective and evidence-based

use of medicines across the PCN Work as part of the

Pharmacy Team

, alongside clinical pharmacists, to: Respond to medication-related queries from patients, GPs, nurses, AHPs and other staff Support and help deliver a

safe, efficient medicines optimisation programme

, including: Repeat prescribing processes Medication reviews (within scope of practice) Medicines reconciliation (e.g. post-discharge, care home admissions) Contribute to audits, searches and data collection to support

QOF, ICB and PCN medicines-related priorities
